I was arrested in the past and want to know if anything shows up on my record. What search should I run?
To find out if you have a criminal record, you should choose a county criminal record search, and select the city or county you were arrested in. Most criminal records are generated at the county level, and this will be the most accurate way to search. If you were arrested by Federal Agents such as the FBI, DEA, US Immigration, etc. then you should select a federal criminal record search.
I want to know if my ex-employer is saying anything negative about me to prospective employers. How do I find this out?
In order to see what a prospective employer will find out about you when they run your background check, you should order our Employee Screening- basic package, which you can find under the Professional Corporate Screening section of the website. This package is the pre-employment industry standard that employers use for background checks.
I want to make sure that someone I know is not a sex offender. How do I find out?
In order to determine if someone is a registered sex offender, we recommend doing two searches- first select a State Sexual Predator search for the state the person lives in, then conduct a Nationwide Criminal Record search to see if they have appeared on sex offender registries in any other states.
If I want to find out if someone has a criminal record; why can’t I just run a Nationwide Criminal Record search and be done with it?
A nationwide criminal record search is not really “nationwide”. It is a simply a network of online databases from state and local jurisdictions that make their records available to the public. It covers perhaps 50-60% of the nation, but is by no means thorough or accurate. It should be used simply to “cast a wider net” in your search, in case the person you are investigating got into trouble in an area where they never lived or worked. An example of this would be a person who lives in New York, went on vacation to Florida for two weeks, where they got arrested for being intoxicated in public. If they had never lived or worked in Florida, you would have no reason to run any searches there. A nationwide criminal record search might produce a record like this one.
I am considering doing business with a guy who claims to be financially well off and owns several companies. How do I find out if this is true?
There are several ways to approach this. First, under Corporate Investigation Services, you could run a Corporate Records search and a Property Ownership search. But as licensed private detectives, our experience has taught us that an even better indication of whether someone is financially well off is to do a personal bankruptcy search (under Bankruptcy & Tax Liens section) and a County Civil Suits search (under Civil Suits & Judgments section). These searches will show if the person had ever declared bankruptcy or been sued for not paying their debts. If a person has both of these on their record, chances are they are not financially stable or well off.
I would like to reconnect with a friend or relative that I have lost touch with. Can you help?
Yes, there are several services you can order to help you get back in touch. If you simply need a way to get in touch with the person, you can conduct a telephone search or email search (under the live people search section) to see if current contact information is available. If you prefer to send them a letter and need a current address, that you can choose a locator trace report. If the locator trace report does not produce current information concerning the person, then you should choose a live investigator skip trace report. This report is different from a locator trace report because a licensed private investigator will obtain and confirm the most recent information concerning the whereabouts of the person.
